I think deep down transportation has always been my favourite aspect of travelling. My earliest travel memories are of the looming noses of planes, little windows with atmospheric wonders, cars — a constant from home — rumbling along through alien landscapes and subway trains being spit out of tunnels. When I think of Bangkok, motorcycle taxies — the little worker-ants of the city — often surface in my memories. However, after exploring the National Museum of Royal Barges my imagination has been chewing on thoughts of parading down the rivers surrounded by the golden boats of the kingdom. Holy torpedoes that was a crazy ride! I’m normally pretty comfortable in the dark, but riding a bike (without a tail-light I might add) on roads in pitch black is TERRIFYING. And yet, in that insane way only petrifying experiences can invoke, it was EXHILARATING. Maybe the adrenaline got to my head, but flying through the night with no clue about what lies ahead felt like bathing in the universe. Never have I had to rely on blind-faith so explicitly. “Whoa! Look at that glow! I’ve never seen it like this before!” I chatter, bouncing in place as the red signal glares across the street. Shadows are beginning to form at the bottom of the Berliner Dom.
Green flashes and J laughs as I sprint across the stripes. Snap. Snap. Snap.
“I’m going to the top! I want to see the city lit by the sunset!”
Huffing up the steps while begging my legs to carry me to the top in time I dash onto the first layer of the viewing deck. Where’s the exit? Where? Where? Where? There! With a twist of the final doorknob I stumble into the sky.
Pop. Pop. Kipow. Screeeaaachhhh! Pop. Pop. Poppoppopopopopop. Pop……..
The crowd woops and cheers as the announcer jumps to his mike and shouts out a send off. As the crowd thins I gaze over at the empty sky. Something was different about these fireworks. What was it?
“Welcome to the working forest of Tentsmuir,” I read aloud as I skidded to a stop by the sign.
“What so the other forests are unemployed?” J retorted with a grin as she pulled over beside me.
My groan scattered the birds from the trees. Continue reading “Bike To Tentsmuir Forest”
HAPPY HALLOWEEEEEEENNNNNN EVERYONNEEEEE!!!!!!
While J and I were in Perth, Scotland yesterday there was a zombie outbreak!!!! Fortunately, the locals are quite used to wrangling zombies so they corralled them into a corridor!
Unfortunately…. that was our way out! Eeek! I had my camera rolling! Check out the scary fun!
Kcchhhttt. We interrupt the Bike Journey series to bring you a special presentation on Hallooowweeeennnnn (insert spooky broadcaster voice).

It rained, oh it rained. But we were lucky. Up over the next hill, beside a lonely tree, a rainbow dashed across the sky. I broke into a shattered version of Somewhere Over the Rainbow as my bicycle gleefully broke through the puddles splattered across the trail.
“I’m playing puddle-dodger and you’re well… failing!” J piped up as I zigzag across the path.
No I’m succeeding! was all that was going through my mind. I’m hitting every target! Continue reading “Biking from Dundee to Abroath”
We could see the sun. It blazed into our vision, urging us forward as we begged our legs for a few more steps and then a few more. We’d given up on riding to the top, our weary muscles sick of pedalling. The road levelled a touch. It was enough. I leapt on and pedalled for the light.
It broke away into a view that had me gasping… well more.
Ahahaha. This is still super funny after an afternoon of editing and a night of fitful sleeping. Sorry for not including a write-up when I first posted this, I was too busy slugging off to bed with a faucet for a nose, a head full of cotton and limbs creaking in protest… Jeez I sound like a scarecrow left in the rain!
This video was totally worth the push though. I might have constantly laughed myself into coughing fits, and the resulting soft berating from my partner, but this was definitely worth it.
They say laughter is healthy and I’m feeling better already! So whether you’re ill or healthy, active or taking a break, I hope you find this video as funny as I do and it helps brighten your day!!!!! Enjoy! Continue reading “Goofing Off At Go Ape Aberfoyle”
